Copyright & Takedown

Last Updated: 11th October 2026

1. Our policy

Just Walk lets people share photos and text — walk photos, club covers, profile pictures and names. Everyone who posts must own the content or have the right to share it (see our Terms, §13).

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement, including under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA, 17 U.S.C. §512). When we receive a valid notice we remove or disable access to the content and tell the person who posted it. We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.

If you use the app, the quickest route is in the app itself: open the post's menu, choose Report, then "Copyright infringement" (for a club, choose "Uses my copyrighted work"). A formal notice by email, as described below, is needed for a DMCA takedown.

2. Sending a takedown notice

Email our designated agent (section 4). Your notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough), as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. The copyrighted work you say is infringed (or, for several works, a representative list).
  3. The content you want removed and enough detail for us to find it — for example the poster's display name, the club name, the date, and a screenshot.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

Knowingly misrepresenting that content is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. §512(f)).

3. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send our designated agent a counter-notice including:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The content that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US Federal District Court for your address (or, if you are outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant. Unless they tell us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the content.
